The JWG years from 1971 until 1975 (Enschede)

I started observing meteors in autumn 1971 during a Orionid campaign of the Youth work group (JWG) of the Astronomical and Weather Society of the Netherlands (KNVWS). This group of enthiousiast young people became known as the Twente-team. As this is the location of the group: the eastern part of the Netherlands near the German border. During the first 3 years observations were carried out at the public observatory of Twente near the city of Denekamp. This observatory was set up by the late Mr. Hennie Gosemeijer. The famous Perseid observing campaign of 1972 was located here. Many hundreds of meteors were recorded visually and about 45 meteors were captured on photographic film. Most of these observations were send to the well known Working group meteors, one of the most active groups within the NVWS.
